Driven For Charlie
Charlie, a young boy from the Chicago suburbs, was facing a challenging battle against Diffuse Midline Glioma, a type of brain tumor closely related to DIPG. The situation had taken a toll not only on his physical health but also on his family's financial well-being. Charlie's mother, a single parent, had been struggling with financial stress ever since his diagnosis. The situation became dire when she fell three months behind on her mortgage payments and was served a foreclosure notice, giving her only 30 days to catch up or risk losing their home. The stress of potentially losing their house added an additional layer of burden to an already difficult situation. Fortunately, the Violet Foundation, along with two other charitable foundations, stepped in to provide the necessary funds to save their home. This grant not only alleviated the immediate financial burden but also allowed Charlie's mother to shift her focus back to supporting her son through his treatment.
